I have to give major props to the hubs on this DIY project. Not only did he go along with my lake house bunk bed room “vision“, but he nailed (no pun intended) it! My husband bought our lake house AS IS, before we met. Which means we’ve been doing a lot of projects since we got hitched. The bunk bed boys room idea was one of my many visions to update the lake house, make it more family friendly, plus add extra living/sleeping space, which would allow for more guests to stay comfortably. This small basement bedroom was painted in a really bad red color on all four walls. The fluorescent ceiling lights were deadly and the space looked like an unused dungeon.
I really wanted our two boys to have a place to claim at the lake house. Somewhere clean, bright, a space of their own to play, build legos or read at night while the other is sleeping.
A few weekends later, three gallons of paint/primer mixture, an amazon prime delivery, and a lot of wine drinking, we have ourselves a bunk bed room.
What we did~
We put up ship-lap paneling on the whole bunk bed wall. My husband made the built in bunk beds by hand, we painted the whole room, including the bunk beds and the paneling all white. We replaced the lunch cafeteria ceiling light, added new extra long twin mattresses, bedding, rug, pillows and decor from amazon. Since I knew exactly what I wanted, the online amazon prime shopping was easy, and saved so much time and money.
Now we can “Lake It Easy“...(Yes, I know that was so cheesy, but I had too)!!!
Until my next “vision”...
