Who said being a mom AND wife would be easy??? Not this lady!!!

There are no right answers, no directions, no manual and no recipes in this thing called life. So, I'm just over here winging it and being the best mom, wife, daughter, sister and friend that I can be and, learning as I go.

So here I go.....My name is Alexis (but my favorite name to be called is mama), wife to Matt and mama to August, (who just so happens to be the best 6 year old on the planet) Stepmom to Rachel (15) and Ryan (13). So, if you can imagine our house is a little crazy, a little busy, but a lot of fun. The blended Bradley's!

In my "spare" time (cough, cough), you'll find me baking everything from a wedding cake to feed 200, every kind of gooey butter cake you could possibly dream of, my famous (at least that's what my family says) Chocolate Chip Cookies, to your everyday standard muffin. I take pride in meal planning for my family because between jobs, soccer practice, baseball games, running errands, taking care of everything around the house (yes, I do all the cleaning, laundry and keep up) and having way too many hobbies, life gets busy and I LOVE to cook.

If there is one thing I can appreciate about being a blended family, (both my husband and I are divorced) it's the every other weekend, and typically every Wednesday when we have no children. While this can be sad, quiet and lonely sometimes, typically it allows for date night/cooking together every Wednesday and traveling on our kid free weekends. It gives us the opportunity to continue to date each other, to have a guaranteed date night every week, to learn and grow together and stay connected so we can not only be better, stronger parents, but also a solid couple, which is the foundation to having a family and marriage that works. (For us at least)

When I'm not providing my free children's taxi service, being a nurf gun target, putting together 1500 piece lego sets, working part time at a posh department store chain, working from home for my husbands busy orthopedic practice, meal planning, baking wedding cakes, doing DIY projects and decorating, you'll find me shopping, (I'm always on a mission to find the best deal) adding shoes and bargain pieces to my closet/small obsession, drinking wine, doing pilates, listening to music, meditating, lake house weekends that include working on projects, boating, or swimming, traveling, and playing fetch with our labradoodle, Cupcake (yes, that really is her name), but my husband refuses to yell for her by her name and chooses to call her CC!

The list is long, life is busy and I'm learning a lot along the way. Being a mother, divorced, then being a single mother, remarried and having a blended family, all while finding my passion and drive for doing the things in life that make me happy. So, cheers to the crazy road ahead of us. May it be fun, educational, dynamic, humorous, relaxing, peaceful and full of wine and good laughs.

Hugs and Wine,
Alexis
